He has a PhD in Social Anthropology (EHESS, Paris, 2000). His research focuses on race relations and ethnicity and the intersection of violence, sexual violence, sexual and reproductive health, migration, and epidemics in the Americas and Africa, holding his research with Médecins Sans Frontières. He is ahead of the Laboratory of Applied Anthropology (Lapa) which seeks to apply anthropology with academic rigor in an ethical way to the areas of Diversity, Inclusion and Social Rights, Cultural and Educational Development, Sexual Health and Well-being Practices, and Evidence-Based Strategic Analysis and Management.
