Flavio Carvalhaes is professor in the Department of Sociology at UFRJ. He is the director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Studies on Inequality (NIED). He has a PhD in sociology from IESP/UERJ (2013), a master's degree in sociology from IUPERJ(2009), and a bachelor's degree in social sciences from UFMG (2006). His research focuses on the sociology of social stratification with an emphasis on topics such as higher education, educational stratification, and issues related to inequality (income, social mobility, and health, among others)
