Sociology & Anthropology is a quarterly publication of the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology (PPGSA) of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences (IFCS) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Sociology & Anthropology, as an interdisciplinary platform, seeks to disseminate, expand, and improve sociological and anthropological knowledge in thematic fields and theoretical perspectives. Like the PPGSA, the Journal meets the specialization requirements of our time. However, it aims to foster disciplinary dialogue beyond narrowly defined academic boundaries, valuing the fruitful exchange between the different theoretical traditions that define sociology and anthropology.
Sociology and Anthropology, therefore, aim at critical and comprehensive collaboration between sociological and anthropological perspectives, favoring dynamic communication and debate on crucial theoretical, empirical, historical, and analytical issues. Recognizing the pluriparadigmatic nature of social knowledge, the Journal values the opportunities for exchange between convergent and divergent points of view in these fields of expertise. The proposal expressed by the symbol '&' in Sociology and Anthropology connects the denominations of the disciplines that reference us, symbolizing the interdisciplinary nature of the journal.
Sociology & Anthropology intends to present, circulate, and discuss original research that contributes to the knowledge of sociocultural processes in the Brazilian and world contexts. The Journal is open to collaborating with experts from universities and research institutions and will publish unpublished works in Portuguese and English. Sociology & Anthropology aims to constitute an instrument of consistent interpellation of the contemporary debate of the social sciences and, thus, to contribute to its development.
