Anthropologist with a doctorate and master's from the National Museum/UFRJ. Professor in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at UFRJ. His research interests are on three fronts: 1) bringing together anthropology of rituals and performances with the universe of popular rites, thinking about the connections between ritual action and the production of things, bodies, sounds, listenings, and memories in their engagements and relationships; 2) approaching ethnographic practice (and more generally, the history of anthropology) in its relationship with the processes of recording, writing and recording culture, paying attention to the constitution of ethnographic archives and collections as well as their circulation in collaborative, dialogical and counter colonial contexts; 3)  producing an open space for investigations and experiments with sounds, sonorities and listening in their multiple layers of meaning.
