Professor in the Department of Sociology at UFRJ. He did a sandwich internship for his doctorate at Princeton University (USA). His current research addresses the circulation of ideas and intellectuals between the Caribbean and Brazil at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as the relationship between biomedical sciences and interpretations of Brazil. In addition, he studies sociology of literature, focusing on modernism and exploring the methodological potential of archival research.
