Full Professor of the Department of Sociology at UFRJ. His areas of expertise in sociology are social thought, social theory, and the political sociology of culture, having published over 70 journal articles and 15 books on these topics. He is currently ahead of the editorial activities and public communication actions of the social sciences and literature in the Virtual Library of Social Thought  (Biblioteca Virtual do Pensamento Social - BVPS).
