Retired full professor in the Department of Sociology at UFRJ, holding her link with the PPGSA. Her area of interest covers culture, the circulation and reception of ideas, and contemporary artistic movements. In recent years, she has dedicated herself mainly to the sociology of Brazilian art. She had his postgraduate studies at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) and completed her doctorate at the University of São Paulo. She was a visiting professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, the University of Muenster, the University of Passau, and the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).
