Frédéric Vandenberghe presents an interdisciplinary, multi-scalar situational analysis of Brazil under Bolsonaro. Using scale variations, he will analyze how small events can ripple through the system, destabilize it, and bring it to the edge of structural collapse. Based on the sociology of knowledge of Karl Mannheim, he will develop a theory of societal change that integrates events, conjunctures, systems, and civilizations in an empirical philosophy of history.
